Learn more about The Great American Home Search on Redfin.

Q: When does The Great American Home Search begin and end?

A: The Great American Home Search will start on February 8, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET and ends February 10, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Q: Who is eligible to participate?

A:  You must be a legal resident of the 50 U.S. and D.C, satisfy the age requirements in the Official Rules, and able to complete an IRS Form W-9 to win the prize. “Professional Geo-Location Analysts” are not eligible to participate. In addition, employees of Redfin and the other Rocket companies as well as all other entities involved in executing and promoting this contest and their family members are also not eligible to participate. Other eligibility criteria apply. See the Eligibility section of the Official Rules for all details.

Q What is the prize?

A: The prize is a home that includes standard appliances and furnishings, valued at approximately $22,000. The estimated value of the home, including furnishings, is $1,049,000.00. Redfin will provide an additional payment of $700,000 to assist the winner with income taxes. Redfin may, in its sole discretion, offer additional payments to winner, depending on the winner’s individual tax circumstances. In addition, Redfin will pay property taxes directly to the county for the first 12 months after the conveyance of the property and will purchase homeowner’s insurance for the property for the first 12 months. The estimated value of these payments is $25,000. The total approximate value of the prize is $1,774,000.  For a complete description of the prize, see the Prize Description, Restrictions and Requirements, and Approximate Retail Value section of the Official Rules.

Q Are there restrictions on what the winner can do with the home?

A: Redfin’s intention is to create a new owner in the home, and a new neighbor for the community. As such, it is Redfin’s desire and expectation that the winner will make a good faith effort to reside at the home at least 50% of the time for the first 12 months from the date the home is transferred to the winner. The winner may not lease, rent, gift, or sublease the home, for short- or long-term use, for that time period.

If, due to necessary circumstances, the winner seeks to sell the home during that 12-month period, Redfin will have the right of first refusal to purchase the property. Additional information about these restrictions can be found in the Prize Description, Restrictions and Requirements, and Approximate Retail Value section of the Official Rules.
